ICF Coach Mentoring

Being mentored by an experienced coach is an integral part of developing your skills as a new coach. With gentle and artful mentoring, an ACN Mentor Coach will provide you the helpful guidance you need to develop the ICF core coaching competencies. You’ll learn to work one-on-one with clients, developing confidence and assurance in your abilities.

Our experienced Mentor Coaches have all the special training to help you:

• Learn to develop a client-centered approach.
• Develop active listening and reflection skills.
• Identify client values and feelings.
• Help clients make decisions.
• Assess a client’s obstacles and options for change.

ICF Credentialing Requirements
For ACC, PCC and MCC qualification, ICF requires candidates to have ten mentor hours.

If you’re an ACN student and wish to become certified by the ICF, you will need a Mentor Coach to supervise you as you develop the core competencies.

For those who have taken their coaching coursework outside of ACN and would like assistance with the portfolio route through the ICF credentialing process, we offer access to our network of Mentor Coaches as well.

Whether you're a new coach or experienced coach, mentor coaching is a way to expand your finesse and enliven your skill set. Working with an ACN mentor coach over a number of sessions will provide the support you need to be the best coach you can be.

Individual Mentoring/Supervision:

You will have 10 sessions with an MCC giving you specific feedback, input, and support on how to directly work with client caseload. The feedback will help you in reviewing and assisting in individual short term and long term client goals/outcomes and exploring a variety of coaching tools and techniques to work with these clients. These sessions will involve a mixture of discussion and actual listening to recorded sessions of your coaching work with clients and are designed directly with your mentor for maximum growth and learning of coaching skills.

Cost: $1995 for 10 sessions

Breakthrough to Results Mentoring Sessions

Breakthrough to Results mentoring is for those of you interested in receiving specific feedback on your coaching development as you build your coaching practice and/or prepare for the ICF exam.

We are pleased to be able to offer you this opportunity for individualized feedback sessions to assist you with both the ICF core competencies and deepening your coaching skill set.

How the Mentoring Sessions work: You will be partnered with 2 other students/coaches (3 coaches per pod) for 9 sessions, each session will be 60 minutes in length.

During each session there will be one coach, one person being coached and one observer. As the coach works with the client, your mentor will interrupt as needed or requested by you, and give specific feedback on how to coach. The mentor will use other possible skills tools and show how to demonstrate ICF core competencies throughout the session. You will have a opportunity to learn new skills from your mentor and from each other, as each coach will bring their unique background and experience to the coaching.

Each session will end with a debriefing of what the coach did well, areas of strength, and areas for improvement. Sessions will be recorded and each student will have access to the recording to listen to and learn from.

Benefits: This type of feedback, given directly in the moment where you can use it and see the direct impact on your client, allows coaches to quickly embody learning. You also have a unique opportunity to learn from your fellow coaches, as each of you has different and very effective areas of strengths and coaching techniques. This form of mentoring creates very fast and effective learning and growth for the coaches involved and is a type of advanced coach training that many coaches seek but are not sure where to find it.

ICF Mentoring for Credentialing

Using the same format as the Breakthrough to Results sessions, two additional sessions are included at the end for assessments by MCC and reference letters of recommendation for ICF applications. Letters of recommendation are dependent on the coach demonstrating a level of proficiency required to pass credential level they are applying for. If a coach requires more growth, an MCC will advise on other areas to work in.
